The Rev. Mark Phillips was born and raised in West Mifflin, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. From a very early age, Mark sensed a call to ministry and was active in church school and youth-group activities. While in high school, Mark began studying organ and continue those studies through college. While in high school and college, Mark served several churches in Pittsburgh, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. as organist and choir director.
Mark earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia in 1991 and his Master of Divinity degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1994. He was ordained by Pittsburgh Presbytery on July 31, 1994.
Mark served as the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge, Ohio from August 1, 1994 - April 14, 2010. On February 7, 2010, the congregation of The First Presbyterian Church of Sag Harbor, NY elected Mark as their pastor and he began his ministry in Sag Harbor on April 15, 2010.
In his free time, Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends and taking part in community events. He enjoy bike riding and travel, as well as music and reading.
