The Reverend James J. Cardone has served since 2005 as interim pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sag Harbor. An ordained Episcopal priest for 28 years, he has served churches in Michigan, Illinois, and New York where he focused on the renewal of congregations and historic churches. Prior to his current position, he served as Dean of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, N.Y
In his interim role, Reverend Cardone is leading First Presbyterian's congregation in its growth and preparation for the future discernment process leading towards the call of a permanent pastor.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Rev. Cardone received a Master of Divinity from Bexley Hall in Rochester, NewYork. Earlier, he received B.A. and M.A. degrees in psychology and worked as a clinical and rehabilitation counselor and as a director of rehabilitation at several agencies.
He and his wife, Sheryl, have been married for 37 years. Ms Cardone is a tutor for students with learning disabilities at Nassau Community College. Their son, Thomas, also works at N.C.C. in the human resources department. A younger son, Benjamin, died two years ago while serving in the U.S.Navy.
