What Is Wonder Sunday?
Wonder Sunday continues throughout the school year on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.
Kids of all ages are invited to wonder, observe, and ask questions about the world around them—the visible and the invisible—and to look for the divine in the everyday. We believe faith begins not only with answers, but with wonder.
What Happens on a Wonder Sunday?
Children begin in the sanctuary with the congregation, where they participate in a Children’s Message and discover a surprise item from the Wonder Box.
Then it’s off to the Kids’ Room with Ms. Jen for more faith exploration. Each lesson includes hands-on experiences—such as art, songs, skits, or science experiments—connected to Bible stories and children’s literature.
And Wonder Sunday doesn’t end when the lesson or church service is over! Everyone is welcome to gather in the social hall for a delicious and enjoyable time of fellowship—and, of course, the best cup of coffee in Sag Harbor.
Beyond Wonder Sunday
There are lots of other fun things happening for kids at Old Whalers’ throughout the year, including: a Halloween Party, Craft Fair activities, a Christmas Pageant, Movie Nights, Palm Processions, and more!
At Old Whalers’, we understand how important a positive and active relationship with spirituality can be for children. We also believe in the importance of an active, loving community.
We hope your children will find Old Whalers’ to be a WONDER-ful place to learn, grow, ask questions, and experience life together.
