September Prayer Group Meeting

September Prayer Group — Beginning Again After Summer

Our Prayer Group returns on Thursday, September 17 as we begin a new season together and reflect on the question, “What do I carry forward?”

Join us in the Old Whalers’ Church Chapel at 9:30 AM for coffee and conversation, followed by our gathering at 10:00 AM. We’ll take time to reflect, share, listen, and pray together as we consider what we want to carry with us—and perhaps what we’re ready to leave behind—as summer gives way to fall.

Everyone is welcome, just as you are.

Old Whalers' Church Celebrates HarborFest

HarborFest Sunday at Old Whalers’ Church

Sunday, September 20 | Beginning at 9:00 AM

The morning begins at 9:00 AM with a demonstration of Old Whalers’ historic 1845 Henry Erben organ by Walter Klauss. From 9:15–10:00 AM, architect and historian Randy Croxton will lead an architectural tour of the church, including a slide presentation.

At 10:00 AM, join us for a special Historic HarborFest Service, “Passing the Light,” celebrating the generations of people who have shaped Old Whalers’ and Sag Harbor—and considering how we carry that light forward today.

Super Cereal Bowl

Cereal Bowl Sunday at Old Whalers’ Church – Sunday, February 8 | 10:00 AM

On Sunday, February 8, everyone worshiping with us at the 10:00 AM service at Old Whalers’ Church is invited to take part in a little fun—and a lot of generosity.

Bring along a box of cereal and place it in one of two containers, each representing a team in the Super Bowl. Our Sunday School children will do the counting after worship to see which team wins our official Old Whalers’ game-day prediction!

No matter the outcome, everyone wins—especially the children and our community food pantry, which will receive all donated cereal.

Following worship, please stay for a festive coffee hour, featuring a cereal buffet for all to enjoy—a fun, kid-friendly way to continue the celebration and community spirit.

Come for worship, bring a box of cereal, cheer on a team, and help nourish both joy and neighbors in need—right here in the heart of Sag Harbor.

HarborFrost Soup Supper

Old Whalers’ Church Hosts Community Soup Supper During HarborFrost Weekend

Sag Harbor, NY — In celebration of winter, community, and good food, Old Whalers’ Church invites the public to its annual Soup Supper, held in coordination with HarborFrost, on Saturday, February 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

Taking place in the church’s warm and welcoming Social Hall, the evening will feature homemade soups, fresh bread, and the cozy spirit that defines winter in Sag Harbor. Guests may enjoy a hearty serving of soup and bread for $10, or choose the $20 option, which includes a commemorative Soup Supper mug and additional servings of soup.

The evening promises more than just good food. Organizers hope to feature live music, adding to the festive HarborFrost atmosphere—and, weather permitting, guests may even be able to watch the HarborFrost fireworks from the church’s front steps.

The Soup Supper is a benefit event, but first and foremost it is a night of warmth, laughter, and togetherness—open to neighbors, friends, families, and visitors of all ages.

“Winter can be long, but it’s better when we gather,” said organizers. “This is about simple food, shared tables, music, and celebrating the heart of our community.”

All are welcome. Come in from the cold, enjoy a bowl of soup, and be part of a joyful HarborFrost evening at Old Whalers’ Church.
